Call for Applications: STRONG Visiting Fellowship Program

Are you conducting research on democratic innovations, deliberative democracy, public opinion, or political behavior?

The STRONG research project is inviting applications for its Visiting Fellowship Program for the period 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027. Hosted by Samforsk – The Social Science Research Institute at Åbo Akademi University, the fellowship offers researchers an opportunity to collaborate with leading scholars in the field, develop cutting-edge empirical or theoretical work, and become part of a vibrant international research community.

Applicants should be engaged in cutting-edge empirical or theoretical work in the fields of democratic
innovations, deliberative democracy, public opinion or political behavior, hold a suitable
PhD degree and an ongoing position at a university or research institution. STRONG will provide the Visiting Fellows with workspace and a monthly scholarship of 2000 euros to cover expenses during the stay. Accepted Fellows should organize and pay for their own travel.   • A covering letter stating why, when and for how long you wish to visit, and which of the two campuses you wish to be located at
  • An outline (no more than two pages) of the research you propose to conduct during the visit
  • A brief curriculum vitae (no more than two pages)
  • Possible letter(s) of reference
